LIFE UPDATE!!
It’s been awhile since I used this blog, but I’ve decided to get it started again because….
In a couple weeks, I’ll be embarking on a solo backpacking trip through South America!!
I started this blog as a way to record my semester abroad ventures in college, but since I recently graduated, it will now be an outlet for all of my different travels!
My plan for post-grad changed quite a bit recently. For months, I had been planning on moving to Santiago, Chile for the year following graduation to teach English, and I even accepted a job with a July start date! However, just a couple weeks before I was set to leave, things changed. I was offered my dream job at the place that I have interned at for the past two summers, and I knew I couldn’t let that opportunity go, so I decided to turn down the teaching gig and accept this job in Manhattan. It was honestly one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make, but I know that it was the right one for me.
BUT, I had already had my heart so set on being in Chile, so since the job doesn’t start until November, I decided to use the money I had originally saved for my move and spend it on a budget backpacking trip before my job starts. That way I can still experience a bit of life in South America without the full year commitment, which is perfect for where I am in my life right now!
So in the meantime, before I leave, I will be posting about a recent trip I took to Peru and about my planning and preparation for this solo backpacking trip. I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Abrazos,
Isabelle
